The Clegg Gifford story begins in Ilford in 1967 as a partnership between Roy Clegg and Mike Gifford, two friends who met through the insurance industry. From its early start as a general Insurance Broker, Clegg Gifford’s business evolved and was highly innovative in the specialist motor risk market.
When Mike Gifford settled into retirement in 1985, a new partner, Shirley Bellamy came along and the business continued to grow, culminating in the move from its original Ilford premises to its new specially built headquarters in Romford.
Clegg Gifford’s understanding of the specialist motor risks department sprouted an offshoot in the form of its sister company Tradex Insurance Company. Together both companies aim to be foremost in developing innovative products in the motor insurance market, most recently adding Westminster Insurance Company to the portfolio.
Today Clegg Gifford has branches throughout the country and has the distinction of being one of only 168 Lloyd’s brokers in the UK. Clegg Gifford offers a wide spectrum of insurance products including motor, household, travel, marine, cargo liability, fleet , taxi and many more, across many professions throughout the UK.
