Matt Maynard
Head of Motor
Matt began his journey with Tradex Insurance back in 2003, starting off with Saturday mornings and school/college holiday shifts. By 2006, he transitioned into a permanent role within the company and has since steadily advanced through the ranks. Ambitious, organized, and driven, Matt consistently applies his skills whenever needed. In 2018, the company merged with Clegg Gifford & Co, further expanding his professional landscape. With over two decades of experience in the Motor Trade market, Matt's tenure has provided him with a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

Charlie Schofield
Business Operations Specialist
Charlie Schofield has the most fun job at Clegg Gifford, from looking after the brand’s superhero mascots to implementing immersive customer experience elements like the beach huts in Brighton’s North Street location. He works closely with the CG Directors and navigate a broad range of projects across social media, websites, events, and awards. He is passionate about ensuring clarity and levity in all communications, as well as ease of access and understanding for customers no matter how they come into contact with the company. Residing in Brighton, he is fortunate enough to regularly visit branches nationwide. When not working, he can normally be found at the Brighton sailing club or the beach.

Joe Whitehair
Customer Conduct Manager
Joe Whitehair is the Customer Conduct Manager for Clegg Gifford. He has worked at CG for over 16 years, taking on various roles within the business during this time. He has achieved a Dip CII and is currently completing an ACII qualification.

Ian Jolly
Fleet Department Manager
A driven and adaptable individual with over 25 years experience within the Motor Insurance Industry, starting out as a Sales Clerk for a large personal lines broker Ian has held various Underwriting positions though out his career, and worked his way up through the ranks over time. Ian’s leadership and mentoring skills obtained through his career lend well to his managing and coaching of children’s football teams in his spare time.

Lee Welham
Commercial Business Executive
Lee Welham is responsible for Claims at CG and has held this position since 2015. He is a creative and motivated individual with over 25 years of experience within the Insurance industry; over 20 of these with Tradex and Clegg Gifford. During this time he has overseen the daily activities of the whole claims department including managers, team leaders and staff members.

David Hawthorne
Head of Westminster Direct and National Taxi
David Hawthorne is the Head of Westminster Direct and National Taxi. He joined Clegg Gifford and Tradex in 2005 and has been with the businesses for over 16 years. David runs the Commercial Sales department located at our London Minories office.

Victoria Adams
Head of London Market Operations
Victoria Adams is the Romford Branch Manager overseeing the New Business, Customer Service & Renewals Team. Victoria joined the company straight from school on a short term contract for the company data inputting. Having moved around departments/ other areas of the business along the way and now managing the Romford Branch, she thrives on seeing others succeed in their careers like she has.

Michelle Pelgrom
Head of Technical Underwriting Practices
Michelle Pelgrom is the Head of Technical Underwriting Practices at Clegg Gifford. Determined and ambitious, she is constantly striving to succeed, both for the business and her team. She oversees the bulk of the Firm’s direct clients for sales, renewals and development. Michelle progressed from an Admin Assistant in 2009 to an Associate Director in 2017.

Birmingham Branch Manager
Nabiel Hafez has been building the Clegg Gifford Birmingham Branch since June 2022, has a passion for ensuring maximum customer satisfaction and providing a smooth and efficient insurance journey for Birmingham customers. He started their journey with Clegg Gifford at the Romford Head Office and later transferred to Birmingham. Each day, he strives to build rapport and meet clients' demands and needs, thereby growing Clegg Gifford’s presence within the Midlands.

Head of Tradex Insurance Services
Emma Goard is the Head of Tradex Insurance Services. She joined Clegg Gifford and Tradex in 2003. Emma is always striving to develop herself and her team and her skill set and determination has seen her grow from a Motor Account Handler to the Wholesale Motor Trade Associate Director.

Head of Retail Branch Network
Michelle Clark was appointed Head of Retail Branch Network as an Associate Director for Clegg Gifford in January 2021. Michelle is responsible for overseeing and developing our retail offering.
She is ambitious, organised and with over 25 years’ experience within the Insurance industry, her positive attitude encourages others in here teams to work hard and succeed.

Rob Howard
Head of Retail Sales
Starting his career in 1987 with a specialisation in the motor industry, Rob Howard, joined Clegg Gifford in 2016 as a Sales Manager in Romford. With the opening of the Birmingham branch, he advanced to Branch Manager. As of January 2024, he proudly serves as our Head of Retail Sales.

Sarah-Jane Tracey is the Branch manager of CG Scotland Edinburgh branch, She has worked in the insurance industry for 25 years with a wide range of knowledge and skills to help guide her team.

Paul Micallef is the Manager of our Colchester Branch . With over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Paul is focused on providing quality customer service to all his clients and is committed to ongoing professional development.

David Herbert
Head of Quality Control
David Herbert is the current Head of Quality Control (QC) for Claims and Underwriting, having been promoted from his QC claims management role in 2020. He has worked at Clegg Gifford and Tradex for almost 10 years having started off as a senior reviewer within claims.

Sion Parry
Romford Branch Manager
Sion Parry has worked in the insurance industry for 12 years. Initially starting in sales, which suited her competitive nature, she progressed to a sales team leader role, where she thrived. After careful consideration, she began her career at CG in December 2022 as the Romford Branch Manager, a role she currently holds. She manages the company’s largest branch, which presents both challenging and exciting opportunities, ensuring that no two days are alike.

Simon Cockerill
Management Information (MI) & Performance
Simon Cockerill is the Associate Director, Management Information (MI) and Performance for Clegg Gifford. Rational and determined, Simon is responsible for the delivery of performance and management information across the whole Firm. He has been instrumental in providing assistance to the actuarial function through the provision of MI and formulation of both raw data and advanced triangles.

Wakefield Branch Manager
David Smith is a hard-working, efficient and reliable insurance manager with over 20 years’ experience in the Insurance industry. David was promoted to Branch Manager in the early months of 2016 after the amalgamation of Clegg Gifford and Tradex’s Wholesale Business.

Marichu Hart
Finance Manager
Marichu Hart is the Finance Manager, she joined Clegg Gifford as an Accounts Assistant in 2008 and been with the Company for 13 years. Responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting with a track record of problem solving, she consistently drives bottom-line performance, efficiency and has great ability managing and motivating teams of loyal and productive employees. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer to address any financial matters.

Phillip Boyle
Head of Credit Control
Phil Boyle joined Clegg Gifford in May 2020 and oversees the running of Credit Control within the Finance Department. His team is responsible for collection of premiums from our panel of brokers on our wholesale division and ensuring all Retail premiums are paid within terms.

Toby Clegg was appointed CEO of Clegg Gifford in October 2016. He joined CG in 2007 fresh from leaving the Royal Navy.
Toby has served in a number of roles and departments throughout the Company; he started his Clegg Gifford (CG) career as a trainee broker before heading up the opening of CG’s Jersey branch in 2008.

Shaun Turner
Underwriting Director
Shaun Turner is the Underwriting Director at Clegg Gifford. Pragmatic and driven, he oversees the bulk of the Firm’s operations – namely sales, renewals and the on-going customer services in both HQ and branches. As a former rugby captain and coach his leadership style borrows much from the coaching and mentoring aspect of the game.

Paul Blakeway
Group Chief Financial Officer
Paul Blakeway is the Group Chief Financial Officer at Clegg Gifford. A forward thinker, who has been with Clegg Gifford and Tradex for over 15 years, he oversees the bulk of the Firm’s finances and ensures that the company is kept afloat. Paul worked his way up within Tradex, showing diligence and hard work, moving from Statistic and Reporting Officer to Assistant Credit Control Manager.

Kelly Lane
Operations Director
Kelly Lane was appointed Operations Director of Clegg Gifford in 2018. She joined CG and Tradex in 2016. Within this time Kelly has successfully achieved a saving of circa £2M after tendering for a new panel of solicitors and made significant salary savings following a successful restructuring exercise.
