    • Toby Clegg

      Group CEO

      Toby Clegg was appointed CEO of Clegg Gifford in October 2016. He joined CG in 2007 fresh from leaving the Royal Navy. Toby has served in a number of roles and departments throughout the Company; he started his Clegg Gifford (CG) career as a trainee broker before heading up the opening of CG’s Jersey branch in 2008.
    • Shirley Bellamy

      Managing Director

      Shirley Bellamy is a shareholder in Clegg Gifford, she joined the business in 1974 and has served in a variety of roles over 4 decades; most recently as the Managing Director overseeing the gradual transition to a new generation of management, led by Toby Clegg. Shirley retains an active role in overseeing select private clients.
    • Bernard Thornton

      Deputy Chairman

      Bernard Thornton was appointed Deputy Chairman in January 2019 having joined Clegg Gifford in April 2018 as a Senior Advisor. Bernard is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales having spent over 30 years as a partner in a top ten firm in various roles from head of audit to finance partner, member of the managing board and Chairman.
    • Kelly Lane

      Operations Director

      Kelly Lane was appointed Operations Director of Clegg Gifford in 2018. She joined CG and Tradex in 2016. Within this time Kelly has successfully achieved a saving of circa £2M after tendering for a new panel of solicitors and made significant salary savings following a successful restructuring exercise.
    • Shaun Turner

      Underwriting Director

      Shaun Turner is the Underwriting Director at Clegg Gifford. Pragmatic and driven, he oversees the bulk of the Firm’s operations – namely sales, renewals and the on-going customer services in both HQ and branches. As a former rugby captain and coach his leadership style borrows much from the coaching and mentoring aspect of the game.
    • Paul Blakeway

      Group Chief Financial Officer

      Paul Blakeway is the Group Chief Financial Officer at Clegg Gifford. A forward thinker, who has been with Clegg Gifford and Tradex for over 15 years, he oversees the bulk of the Firm’s finances and ensures that the company is kept afloat. Paul worked his way up within Tradex, showing diligence and hard work, moving from Statistic and Reporting Officer to Assistant Credit Control Manager.

    • Debbie Austin

      Head of Tradex Insurance Services

      Debbie Austin has been the Head of Tradex Insurance Services since August 2019. Debbie is also the Underwriting Director for Tradex Insurance Company. She has been employed in the Insurance industry since 1988 and has worked for Tradex/Clegg Gifford since 1992.
    • Matt Austin

      Head of Technical Pricing & Performance

      Matt Austin is the Head of Technical Pricing and Performance and a Chartered Insurer.  He has a wide ranging role which includes systems development, setting up broker schemes, writing policy wordings and creating  solutions for non-standard risks.  In his  43 year career Matt has had the good fortune to work with some very clever people.
    • Matt Maynard

      Motor Trade Technical Leader

      Matt is the Motor Trade Technical Leader and oversees the Wholesale side of the business and has 17 years of experience within the Insurance Market. He started as an administration assistant he has worked his way up through the company and continues to do so. Matt is an ambitious, organised and determined individual who applies his skills whenever required.
    • Alex Goldstone

      Wholesale Motor Trade Team Leader

      With over 17 years of motor insurance experience , Alex has worked with brokers of varying size and product structures before joining Clegg Gifford. With his valuable experience and an aptitude to always excel, Alex is proactive in ensuring his team provide a first-class level of service and niche expertise.
    • Daniel Wynne

      Motor Technical Leader

      Daniel Wynne is one of the underwriting team leaders, a driven individual who is approachable and doesn’t shy away from a challenge, with over 21 years’ experience in the insurance industry, progressing from account handler to senior underwriter then onto managing a team of underwriters, assistant underwriters and underwriting administrators.
    • Verity Clegg

      Head of Broker Relations

      Verity Clegg is responsible for the Company’s Head of Broker Relations – namely the operational oversight of the London and Lloyd’s market team. A lively and engaging member of the Associate Director team, she is well-known and well respected by brokers throughout the UK. She has been tasked with rejuvenating the Company’s Lloyd’s market proposition.
    • Peter Finch

      Senior Broker

      Peter Finch has a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. Upon leaving university he joined Clegg Gifford and has worked here for 10 years specialising in Property and Liability Insurance.
    • Dave Tuck

      Broker Development Support

      Dave has the role of Business Development & Support, responsible for handling agency applications, administration and is instrumental in helping you grow your account. With a portion of his 16 years' experience in the Insurance industry spent as a broker, he understands first-hand the requirements and challenges that you face and will assist to the best of his abilities.
    • Anthony Allen

      Non-Executive Director

      Tony Allen joined Clegg Gifford as a Non-Executive Director in December 2018.  He is an industry veteran with experience at every level of an insurance company and broking markets as well as owning and managing several insurance entities with an international footprint.
    • Ian Jolly

      Fleet Department Manager

      A driven and adaptable individual with over 25 years experience within the Motor Insurance Industry, starting out as a Sales Clerk for a large personal lines broker Ian has held various Underwriting positions though out his career, and worked his way up through the ranks over time. Ian’s leadership and mentoring skills obtained through his career lend well to his managing and coaching of children’s football teams in his spare time.
    • Joe Barnard

      Lloyd’s and London Market Department 

      Joe Barnard heads up the Lloyd's & London Market Team at Clegg Gifford. Joe has amassed a decade of broking experience at Clegg Gifford and in that time has established and managed niche facilities at Lloyd's that remain at the forefront of their sector. Joe remains our face in London and is always available for a chat over a coffee.
    • Lee Welham

      Head of Claims

      Lee Welham is responsible for Claims at CG and has held this position since 2015.  He is a creative and motivated individual with over 25 years of experience within the Insurance industry; over 20 of these with Tradex and Clegg Gifford. During this time he has overseen the daily activities of the whole claims department including managers, team leaders and staff members.
    • David Hawthorne

      Head of Westminster Direct and National Taxi

      David Hawthorne is the Head of Westminster Direct and National Taxi. He joined Clegg Gifford and Tradex in 2005 and has been with the businesses for over 16 years. David runs the Commercial Sales department located at our London Minories office.
    • Victoria Adams

      Romford Branch Manager

      Victoria Adams is the Romford Branch Manager overseeing the New Business, Customer Service & Renewals Team. Victoria joined the company straight from school on a short term contract for the company data inputting. Having moved around departments/ other areas of the business along the way and now managing the Romford Branch, she thrives on seeing others succeed in their careers like she has.
    • Chris Maugey

      Underwriting Manager

      Chris Maugey has worked for Clegg Gifford & Tradex for approximately 19 years.  The motor trade product is his thing whilst over the years has build his knowledge on our other products.  Chris started off on work experience & a Saturday job within the Ilford office, starting from filing working his way up to his current position.  Chris will never say no to a cup of tea!
    • Michelle Goard

      Head of Technical Underwriting Practices

      Michelle Goard is the Head of Technical Underwriting Practices at Clegg Gifford. Determined and ambitious, she is constantly striving to succeed, both for the business and her team. She oversees the bulk of the Firm’s direct clients for sales, renewals and development. Michelle progressed from an Admin Assistant in 2009 to an Associate Director in 2017.
    • Emma Goard

      Head of Branch Network (exc. Romford and Scotland)

      Emma Goard is the Head of Branch Network (exc. Romford and Scotland). She joined Clegg Gifford and Tradex in 2003. Emma is always striving to develop herself and her team and her skill set and determination has seen her grow from a Motor Account Handler to the Wholesale Motor Trade Associate Director.
    • Michelle Clark

      Head of Branch Network (Scotland)

      Michelle Clark was appointed Head of Branch Network (Scotland) as an Associate Director for Clegg Gifford in January 2021. Michelle is responsible for overseeing and developing our retail offering north of the border to ensure compliance with business policies, goals and objectives and ensure an efficient working environment is in place.
    • John Banfield

      Head of Claims Operations

      Jon Banfield is the Head of Claims with over 25 years of experience within the Insurance market. He started out as a Junior Claims Handler and has made his way steadily to his current role. Jon is a confident and able individual who applies knowledge and skills to new and existing working practices whenever required.
    • Tyler Gull

      Portsmouth Branch Manager

      Tyler Gull is the Branch Manager of the Clegg Gifford Portsmouth office. He started with the company just after he left school and has been in the company for almost 10 years. He started off in the claims team and then moved over to the underwriting side, building up a vast insurance knowledge along the way. He is very driven and prides himself on his excellent customer service.
    • Lorna Wallace

      Aberdeen Branch Manager

      Lorna Wallace is Aberdeen Branch Manager with 17 years experience in the insurance industry. She started out as a part-time administrator within the Aberdeen Agency and was appointed manager in May 2019 when CG took control of Aberdeen Office. Lorna is a friendly and hardworking individual who applies knowledge and skills to attain new business and retain existing.
    • Lee Peryer

      Head of Technical Claims

      Lee Peryer is Head of Technical Claims and assists with the daily management of the claims department. A motivated and driven individual with over 15 years’ experience within the Insurance industry. Lee’s dedication & ambition have seen him progress from an Administration Assistant to a Technical Claims Manager within personal injury.
    • Sarah-Jane Tracey

      Edinburgh Branch Manager

      Sarah-Jane Tracey is the Branch manager of CG Scotland Edinburgh branch, She has worked in the insurance industry for 25 years with a wide range of knowledge and skills to help guide her team.
    • Paul Micallef

      Basildon Branch Manager

      Paul Micallef is the Manager of our Basildon Branch . With over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Paul is focused on providing quality customer service to all his clients and is committed to ongoing professional development.
    • Dan Pelgrom

      UK Compliance Officer

      Daniel Pelgrom was appointed the UK Compliance Officer at Clegg Gifford in June 2019. An enthusiastic and determined individual with over 10 years’ experience in the Insurance market working for both Tradex and Clegg Gifford. Dan’s determination enabled him to gain experience in both claims and underwriting which gives him a wider perspective for his current role.
    • Natalie Whiting

      Bristol & Cardiff Branch Manager

      Bristol and Cardiff Branch manager. Been in the industry for 10 years. Started as an apprentice within the Westminster agency network, left the agency after working five and half years to go to and see what else is out there in the world of insurance. I have now gained qualifications and knowledge which I am now putting into practice within the branch.
    • Graham Lee

      Counter Fraud Claims Manager

      Graham Lee is the Counter Fraud Claims Manager. An Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist with over 30 years’ experience in the industry. He has worked at both Clegg Gifford & Tradex for over 15 years and has held a variety of Managerial roles within the Claims Department during this time. Graham is passionate about fraud and is driven to succeed so that only validated claims are paid.
    • David Herbert

      Head of Quality Control

      David Herbert is the current Head of Quality Control (QC) for Claims and Underwriting, having been promoted from his QC claims management role in 2020.  He has worked at Clegg Gifford and Tradex for almost 10 years having started off as a senior reviewer within claims.
    • Simon Cockerill

      Management Information (MI) & Performance

      Simon Cockerill is the Associate Director, Management Information (MI) and Performance for Clegg Gifford. Rational and determined, Simon is responsible for the delivery of performance and management information across the whole Firm. He has been instrumental in providing assistance to the actuarial function through the provision of MI and formulation of both raw data and advanced triangles.
    • Ian Akehurst

      Claim Systems Manager

      Ian Akehurst is the Claim Systems Manager, overseeing the design and development of the Claims Department’s IT system.  With more than a decade of experience handling claims, Ian is now using this background knowledge alongside a belief in user focussed design, to help guide his team to deliver an industry leading claim management system.
    • Kelly Banfield

      Claims Admin Manager

      Kelly Banfield, is the Head of claims Administration, she has work in the insurance industry for over 17 years, in both handling claims and running the busy administration team. Kelly, has a keen eye for detail and is very process minded in her approach.
    • David Smith

      Wakefield Branch Manager

      David Smith is a hard-working, efficient and reliable insurance manager with over 20 years’ experience in the Insurance industry. David was promoted to Branch Manager in the early months of 2016 after the amalgamation of Clegg Gifford and Tradex’s Wholesale Business.
    • Lacey Victory

      Claims Team Leader

      Lacey Victory is one of the Claims Team Leaders, working within the company for over 12 years starting as a claims enquiries call operator. Lacey has worked in all aspects of claims over the years to her current role. Lacey is a confident and sociable individual, always looking to assist and progress her team in any way.
    • Oliver Power

      Risk Officer

      Oliver Power joined Clegg Gifford on a full-time basis as our ‘Risk Officer’ after completing both his MSc and BSc in Risk Management and Economics respectively. Throughout his time at University, Oliver continued to work with us in numerous roles and capacities, contributing heavily to the High Net Worth Motor Team and Lloyd’s Department.
    • Mark Cole

      Accidental Damage Team

      With a wealth of experience in claims born from nearly 30 years in the industry, Mark has developed a broad knowledge on many levels and prides himself on problem solving, customer care and helping colleagues learn and progress. Mark has headed up teams dealing with third party injury through to complex fraud and now oversees he First Party Claims including Fire and Theft.
    • Marichu Hart

      Finance Manager

      Marichu Hart is the Finance Manager, she joined Clegg Gifford as an Accounts Assistant in 2008 and been with the Company for 13 years. Responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting with a track record of problem solving, she consistently drives bottom-line performance, efficiency and has great ability managing and motivating teams of loyal and productive employees. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer to address any financial matters.
    • Phillip Boyle

      Head of Credit Control

      Phil Boyle joined Clegg Gifford in May 2020 and oversees the running of Credit Control within the Finance Department. His team is responsible for collection of premiums from our panel of brokers on our wholesale division and ensuring all Retail premiums are paid within terms.
    • Claire Banks

      HR Manager

      Claire Banks is the HR Manager with over 20 years’ experience in both Payroll & HR.  Starting out as a weekly payroll and admin clerk and gradually progressing into HR as well as Payroll.  She is confident and works closely with her team
