Lewis Webster is the Head of Retail Commercial at Clegg Gifford and joined the company in 2023. With his vast composite relationships and London market experience, coupled with bringing new business initiatives to our local branches, Lewis is directly responsible for ‘bringing broking back to the high street.’ Lewis and his team assist with maximizing on local opportunities in addition to making an easy pathway for quotes in our Lloyd’s facilities and binders.

Portsmouth Branch Manager
Billy Tee is the Portsmouth branch manager, and has worked in insurance for 8 years. Initially starting his career as a Life Insurance advisor, he has since progressed to running both insurance departments and entire Insurance Brokerages. He started with Clegg Gifford in October 2023 after deciding to try something new within the insurance world.

Matt Maynard
Head of Motor
Matt began his journey with Tradex Insurance back in 2003, starting off with Saturday mornings and school/college holiday shifts. By 2006, he transitioned into a permanent role within the company and has since steadily advanced through the ranks. Ambitious, organized, and driven, Matt consistently applies his skills whenever needed. In 2018, the company merged with Clegg Gifford & Co, further expanding his professional landscape. With over two decades of experience in the Motor Trade market, Matt's tenure has provided him with a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

Charlie Schofield
Business Operations Specialist
Charlie Schofield has the most fun job at Clegg Gifford, from looking after the brand’s superhero mascots to implementing immersive customer experience elements like the beach huts in Brighton’s North Street location. He works closely with the CG Directors and navigate a broad range of projects across social media, websites, events, and awards. He is passionate about ensuring clarity and levity in all communications, as well as ease of access and understanding for customers no matter how they come into contact with the company. Residing in Brighton, he is fortunate enough to regularly visit branches nationwide. When not working, he can normally be found at the Brighton sailing club or the beach.

Daniel Wynne is one of the underwriting team leaders, a driven individual who is approachable and doesn’t shy away from a challenge, with over 21 years’ experience in the insurance industry, progressing from account handler to senior underwriter then onto managing a team of underwriters, assistant underwriters and underwriting administrators.

Manchester Branch Manager
Gemma Milburn has been with Clegg Gifford since January 2023, bringing 26 years of experience in the industry. She is passionate about bringing insurance back to the local community and helping with insurance requirements, whether big or small. Peter Finch has a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. Upon leaving university he joined Clegg Gifford and has worked here for 10 years specialising in Property and Liability Insurance.

Joe Whitehair is the Customer Conduct Manager for Clegg Gifford. He has worked at CG for over 16 years, taking on various roles within the business during this time. He has achieved a Dip CII and is currently completing an ACII qualification.

Fleet Department Manager
A driven and adaptable individual with over 25 years experience within the Motor Insurance Industry, starting out as a Sales Clerk for a large personal lines broker Ian has held various Underwriting positions though out his career, and worked his way up through the ranks over time. Ian’s leadership and mentoring skills obtained through his career lend well to his managing and coaching of children’s football teams in his spare time.

Joe Barnard heads up the Lloyd's & London Market Team at Clegg Gifford. Joe has amassed a decade of broking experience at Clegg Gifford and in that time has established and managed niche facilities at Lloyd's that remain at the forefront of their sector. Joe remains our face in London and is always available for a chat over a coffee.

Lewis Harrison has been the Branch Manager of Clegg Gifford Hull since January 2023, previously working under the former agent representative of CG for 10 years. The city centre branch offers local, expert, and friendly staff who are on hand to provide a broad and varied array of products for private individuals and businesses alike. A diverse collection of providers allows the branch to offer a truly unique portfolio of products, complemented by bespoke, flexible underwriting.

Lee Welham is responsible for Claims at CG and has held this position since 2015. He is a creative and motivated individual with over 25 years of experience within the Insurance industry; over 20 of these with Tradex and Clegg Gifford. During this time he has overseen the daily activities of the whole claims department including managers, team leaders and staff members.

David Hawthorne is the Head of Westminster Direct and National Taxi. He joined Clegg Gifford and Tradex in 2005 and has been with the businesses for over 16 years. David runs the Commercial Sales department located at our London Minories office.

Victoria Adams is the Romford Branch Manager overseeing the New Business, Customer Service & Renewals Team. Victoria joined the company straight from school on a short term contract for the company data inputting. Having moved around departments/ other areas of the business along the way and now managing the Romford Branch, she thrives on seeing others succeed in their careers like she has.

Michelle Pelgrom is the Head of Technical Underwriting Practices at Clegg Gifford. Determined and ambitious, she is constantly striving to succeed, both for the business and her team. She oversees the bulk of the Firm’s direct clients for sales, renewals and development. Michelle progressed from an Admin Assistant in 2009 to an Associate Director in 2017.

Nabiel Hafez has been building the Clegg Gifford Birmingham Branch since June 2022, has a passion for ensuring maximum customer satisfaction and providing a smooth and efficient insurance journey for Birmingham customers. He started their journey with Clegg Gifford at the Romford Head Office and later transferred to Birmingham. Each day, he strives to build rapport and meet clients' demands and needs, thereby growing Clegg Gifford’s presence within the Midlands.

Richard Miller joined Clegg Gifford in November 2021. His role involves growing the branch network, including identifying new locations, negotiating lease terms, and managing each project's legal process. He has been actively involved in recruitment and branch launches, as well as overseeing upgrades from current to new locations. With over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and Cert CII qualification, he brings extensive expertise to his role.

Tyler Gull is the Branch Manager of the Clegg Gifford Laindon office. He started with the company just after he left school and has been in the company for almost 10 years. He started off in the claims team and then moved over to the underwriting side, building up a vast insurance knowledge along the way. He is very driven and prides himself on his excellent customer service.

Starting his career in 1987 with a specialisation in the motor industry, Rob Howard, joined Clegg Gifford in 2016 as a Sales Manager in Romford. With the opening of the Birmingham branch, he advanced to Branch Manager. As of January 2024, he proudly serves as our Head of Retail Sales.

Scott Markham has 17 years of experience in both spectrums of insurance broking and underwriting, he possesses extensive knowledge in High Net Worth – Home, motor, and assets, Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers, and commercial combined products. Prior to his insurance career, he has accumulated 6 years of experience as a criminal law advocate and held senior roles in business entity management. He has a background as a keen footballer who played professionally into his early 20s before an injury prevented further progression. He enjoys traveling to experience different cultures and maintain a keen interest in fitness.

Rational and determined, Simon is responsible for the delivery of performance and management information across the whole Firm. He has been instrumental in providing assistance to the actuarial function through the provision of MI and formulation of both raw data and advanced triangles.

Stephen Fisher has over 13 years of experience in the insurance industry, he has worked across diverse sectors including home, private car, commercial vehicles, fleet insurance, liability, and indemnity insurance. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer to address any financial matters.

Steve Hill has been with CG for just over a year now as the Branch Manager of Bristol, thriving in the fast-paced environment while prioritizing his clients' needs above all else. With 30 years of established experience in insurance, he specialize in all forms of commercial, high-net-worth, and personal insurances. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing football, and managing his daughter’s football team, which CG has generously sponsored for the 24-25 season.

Phil Boyle joined Clegg Gifford in May 2020 and oversees the running of Credit Control within the Finance Department. His team is responsible for collection of premiums from our panel of brokers on our wholesale division and ensuring all Retail premiums are paid within terms.

Toby Clegg was appointed CEO of Clegg Gifford in October 2016. He joined CG in 2007 fresh from leaving the Royal Navy.
Toby has served in a number of roles and departments throughout the Company; he started his Clegg Gifford (CG) career as a trainee broker before heading up the opening of CG’s Jersey branch in 2008.

Shaun Turner is the Underwriting Director at Clegg Gifford. Pragmatic and driven, he oversees the bulk of the Firm’s operations – namely sales, renewals and the on-going customer services in both HQ and branches. As a former rugby captain and coach his leadership style borrows much from the coaching and mentoring aspect of the game.

Paul Blakeway is the Group Chief Financial Officer at Clegg Gifford. A forward thinker, who has been with Clegg Gifford and Tradex for over 15 years, he oversees the bulk of the Firm’s finances and ensures that the company is kept afloat. Paul worked his way up within Tradex, showing diligence and hard work, moving from Statistic and Reporting Officer to Assistant Credit Control Manager.

Operations Director
Kelly Lane was appointed Operations Director of Clegg Gifford in 2018. She joined CG and Tradex in 2016. Within this time Kelly has successfully achieved a saving of circa £2M after tendering for a new panel of solicitors and made significant salary savings following a successful restructuring exercise.
